The instructors at OKI have developed a modern approach to the traditional values and training methods of martial arts. We strive to teach lessons through developmental activities based on the Okinawan martial arts. Our primary focus for the youth 1 program is to promote self-awareness, safety, and confidence, not only in the dojo, but in everyday life.

The OKI Youth 2 program was developed by Shihan Algier to incorporate the following. respect for family, fellow students, teachers, friends and others. We teach focus as well as discipline in and out of the dojo. These moral characteristics are priceless gifts that a parent can give to their child as they grow in this ever changing society. The youth 2 program prides itself on the attention that a student/child receives. We are progressive with all basic concepts of the martial arts teaching process. We make learning fun and interesting. This approach continues to keep the attention of the students by allowing them to absorb and process material, and compelling them to continue to quest for more information. Our retention rate is second to none due to our unique program.

At OKI, we believe that in order to really enjoy all that life has to offer, we need to have the balance of a strong mind, healthy heart and possess the skills that could be necessary to defend ourselves or our family.
Our program will help you stay in shape. You will gain flexibility through our stretching techniques which will decrease your chances of injury in sports and everyday life. You will build strength and tone you body with our dynamic, isometric, and repetitive exercises. You will gain confidence and self-esteem by improving your physical fitness, body composition, skill level and self-defense skills.

You will enjoy the workout as well as the friendships that come along with exercising and training with people that have similar goals. People that train together and support one another end up building friendships that last a lifetime. What better way to spend you time than staying fit, developing a skill that could save you or one of your families lives and meeting people with the same interests and goals.

Martial Arts is a fun, fulfilling workout for adults
Our adult students really appreciate the difference between martial arts training and standard exercise programs.

Our workouts are a great way to get in shape
Martial arts is like an exercise program with a bonus! You learn to defend yourself while you get in shape.

Our classes relieve stress
Martial arts classes are well known for their stress relieving benefits. The emphasis on mind-body training goes far beyond the benefits of standard, health club type exercise programs.

Our classroom practice sessions give you confidence
The confidence building part of our program is what students appreciate the most. Nothing can take the place of the security in knowing that you can defend yourself, if you have to.

What we teach you could save your life
At our school, everything we teach is reality based. Our instructors work very hard to insure that most any situation you might encounter is covered in the classroom under very safe learning conditions, so you will be prepared.
Our program is a lot of fun
The reason our program is so successful is because we make the classes fun and exciting. We learned a long time ago that if people are having fun, they learn much faster.

training
The OKI weapons program is available to all ranks above green belt.
We practice the ancient arts of Kobudo. Okinawan weapons are the most sought after weapons program in the martial arts.
Shihan Algier's knowledge is unsurpassed in the RI area.

"Weapons training is the weight lifting of the martial arts."

Paul Algier. 6th Dan.
If you are looking into other martial arts schools, take a look at these things first.
  • Ask if you will have to sign a contract.  We don't employ the use of contracts!

  • Many schools will charge you an additional fee for stripe and belt testing. We don’t have hidden costs          associated with our testing program.

  • Martial arts testing is judged on 100% proficiency of the requirements. We will not water down our standards just to give rank. We value quality, not quantity.

  • Check and see if the owner/senior instructor is actually doing the instruction. If not who is? Renshi Algier                      teaches over 700 classes each year and our senior instructors have over 25 years experience each… We guarantee that one of us will be on the training floor.

At our school, we keep it easy.

oLate arrivals should make themselves known to the Instructor by kneeling at the side of the Dojo floor, bowing to the Front or Shomen and              then to the Instructor where the student must wait for permission to join the class.
oWhile a class is in session, karate-ka should not lean against the wall, mirrors, etc. or lie down on the mats. Rather, they should conduct              themselves in a more acceptable manner paying strict attention to the instructions being given or the class being taught.
oThe Karate student must show courtesy and respect to all instructors and fellow students.
oAlways address the instructors by their proper title, Sensei or Sempai (senior student), inside the dojo. THIS INCLUDES PARENTS AND              ADULTS.
